SPRAY TAN FAQ's

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY TANNING APPOINTMENT?

  • Dark loose-fitting clothing is always the best thing to wear to an appointment. Examples are weather dependent but for summer, I would wear a really loose, black, flowy dress or tee shirt dress. And for winter loose and baggy track or lounge pants with a light, loose and long-sleeved tee.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?

Bring an UMBRELLA and a large beach towel or 2! Wear gumboots or ugg boots. Light long-sleeved top and pants.

PREPARING YOUR SKIN FOR A TAN

  • It is absolutely essential that you EXFOLIATE your entire body in the days leading up to your tanning appointment.

  • If you have an old fake tan on your body,

  • Laser hair removal should be done at least 4-5 days prior to your tanning appointment.

  • Waxing should be done at least 48 hours prior.

  • Shaving can be done 24 hours before.

  • Keeping your body hydrated by drinking water and moisturising in the days leading up to your tanning appointment is imperative for a naturally beautiful spray tan that will last 7-10 days and fade evenly.

THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Wash and lightly exfoliate your body with your exfoliating glove.

  • Your body should be free from makeup, moisturiser, perfume, deodorant and jewellery.

DURING YOUR SPRAY TAN APPOINTMENT

  • As everyone's natural skin tone is different, I will complete a skin analysis and we will talk about the end result and how natural or dark you would like to be.

  • During your tanning appointment, you will be offered a disposable g'string, however, you can choose to wear your own, or go completely nude, whatever feels most comfortable for you.

DIRECTLY AFTER YOUR SPRAY TAN

  • Please wear a large tee shirt dress. Do not put your bra back on. Avoid tight clothing and closed-in shoes as these will ruin your tan.

  • Avoid exercising, washing dishes or coming into contact with water prior to your first shower.

  • Wait the number of hours discussed in your session before showering. LISTEN TO YOUR THERAPIST! Staying in your tan longer than your allocated time will result in an overprocessed tan and you risk your tan turning orange or way too dark for your skin tone.

  • During your first shower, use water only! Do not use any body wash or products.

  • Start at the bottom of your legs and use your hands to push all the cosmetic bronzer off under warm running water. Make sure you are lightly rubbing all the bronzer off in circles with your hands. Don’t just stand under the shower head as you will get dribble marks down your tan and ruin the end result.

  • After your first shower, your tan will appear much lighter in colour. Don’t panic, this is completely normal and part of the process. Your tan will continue to develop and turn brown over the next 24 hours.

  • Pat dry with a towel.

AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • To keep your tan looking as fresh as possible, for as long as possible, only use body wash on your underarms and intimate area.

  • Moisturise daily with a moisturiser that has no nasty chemicals, SLS, SLES, parabens or mineral oils in it.

  • Avoid soaking in baths, spas, saunas and pools. These will strip your tan down extremely quickly.

  • If you’re going on a holiday where you know you will be swimming, it’s recommended that you take a gradual tan away with you and reapply every 2 days to keep your tan looking fresh.

  • Your spray tan will not protect you from UV rays so always wear SPF 50+ sunscreen during sun exposure.
